To keep your shed safe from intruders, we offer robust locking systems, such as hasps and staples and key locks, for a small additional cost.

At Atlas Sheds, we use pressure‑treated timber for all bearers to help resist moisture and decay over time. 

However, we suggest adding extra underfloor bearers to provide more support beneath your shed floor, raising the structure slightly above ground level (typically by around 1½ inches or 38 mm).

Doing so will help air circulate better underneath the structure, preventing rot, moisture damage, and water pooling. We recommend this especially for homes where the shed is placed on grass, old pavement, or soil, and where the surface is uneven.

Opening cottage-style windows are designed to look like they’d fit right in with a cosy cottage, perfect for adding warmth and beauty to your shed. 

This charming, traditional feature is available on many of our sheds and summerhouses, ensuring your garden resembles a quintessential British countryside setting. These types of windows include timber framing with decorative bars or cross-sections that create a distinctive, characterful appearance.

Since they’re fully opening, they allow fresh air to enter your shed, improving ventilation and air circulation, especially in the summer. Our cottage-style windows are made from toughened glass for added safety and are framed with high-grade planed timber that matches the rest of your shed's exterior.

Is your old shed taking up space in your garden? No problem. At Atlas Sheds, we offer an add-on shed removal service with your installation, which includes dismantling and recycling your wooden shed. 

Our shed removal service is available at an additional cost and must be booked in advance to allow us to allocate the correct team and time for the job. For a smooth process, do the following beforehand:

• Clear out the shed completely – All items must be removed, including garden tools, paint tins, shelving, etc.
• Disconnect any utilities – If your shed has electric wiring or plumbing, these must be safely disconnected before removal.
• Clear any obstacles – We’ll need a clear and safe route to the shed from the front of your property for dismantling and removal.

Please note: we do not remove sheds containing hazardous materials or non-wood structures such as concrete or metal sheds. The old base (e.g., flags or concrete) will be left intact.

If your subfloor isn’t level, then don’t worry; we offer a base-laying service to help prepare the ground before your shed arrives (prices include sand, cement, and flagstones but not removal of rubbish).

Our team can install a solid, level foundation using paving flags laid on a compacted sand and cement mix to create a firm and level sub-base. Here’s what we recommend:

• Slightly uneven ground (up to a few inches difference): We can supply and install extra underfloor bearers to help raise and support the shed evenly across mild gradients.
• Noticeably sloped or soft areas: Our base-laying team can build up the low side using a flagstone base or minor excavation to level the area more effectively.
• Waterlogged or poorly draining soil: It’s best to raise the shed entirely off the ground using a proper base and treated bearers to keep the floor dry and well ventilated.

You should never place a shed directly on soil, grass, or an old base that has deteriorated, as this can lead to issues with damp, floor rot, or structural instability.

Don’t know which one to go for?

Apex roof sheds have a point in the roof, making them a traditional pitched roof that you see on my homes. This provides extra height in the middle of the shed, perfect for storing large tools or for workshops.

Pent sheds, however, have a roof that slopes, meaning one side is higher than the other. The roof angles from front to back, making them a better choice for tight spaces or placing them up against a wall or fence.

No, as long as your shed is under 2.5 metres and doesn’t take up half of your garden, you’re good to go. 

You must abide by the rules set out under Permitted Development Rights in the UK, which apply to sheds, summerhouses, and outbuildings. 

• The total area covered by your shed must not exceed 50% of your garden
• If the shed has a pitched (apex) roof, it must be no taller than 4 metres
• If the shed has a flat or pent roof, it must be no taller than 3 metres
• The shed mustn’t be placed in your front garden
• The shed mustn’t be used as a separate dwelling or rented out

If you live in a listed area or a conservation area, or you’re using your shed for business purposes, it's always best to check with your local planning authority before placing an order.

At Atlas Shed, we use only high-grade, dip-treated, and tanalised timber sourced from sustainable forests for our products. We guarantee sheds that are resistant to fungal decay, insect attack, and weather damage.

However, to keep your shed in top condition, we recommend carrying out basic maintenance once a year.

1. Apply a wood preservative once a year, including water-repellent or UV-resistant treatments, to protect the surface against fading, cracking, and moisture damage. 
2. Inspect the roof felt and fixings at least once a year to ensure there are no tears, gaps, or loose nails.
3. Oil the door and window hinges to avoid rust and stiffness, and give them a light sanding or re-treat as needed to keep them operating smoothly.
4. Keep the base area clear of objects that could trap moisture, such as leaves, plant pots, or soil.
5. Regularly clean the interior of your shed to prevent a buildup of dirt and dust, and avoid moisture accumulation.

Once your shed order is confirmed, delivery and installation usually take between 3 to 6 weeks, depending on the time of year, the size and complexity of your shed, and your location.

All of our sheds are manufactured in-house in Liverpool, so we oversee every part of the process. During peak seasons (spring and summer), lead times may be slightly longer due to higher demand. So we recommend placing your order earlier for summer projects. 

Once your order is confirmed, we’ll provide you with a delivery date and time and install your shed the same day, if you’ve opted for free installation.

Yes! All Atlas Sheds come with a 10-year guarantee against rot, giving you long-term peace of mind when it comes to quality and durability

They also come with a 12-month guarantee for our roofing felt and ironmongery from the date of installation. Our dip-treated timber is also guaranteed against rot for 12 months from the installation date. 

What the guarantee does not cover:

• Damage caused by poor maintenance, ground contact, or dampness from an unsuitable base.
• Storm damage, accidental impact, or misuse.
• Natural fading, splits, or knots appearing in the timber (these are part of the natural ageing process of wood).

Yes! We offer free installation and delivery to customers in and around Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire, and Greater Manchester.
