Garden Seating Ideas On A budget

Date Published: 21st June 2021

As the weather picks up and restrictions are easing we can welcome our friends and family into our gardens with open arms. But what if you don’t have places for people to sit?

Here we share some garden seating ideas on a budget that will guarantee you can enjoy your outdoor space without making a huge dent in your bank balance - there’s still a possibility of a summer holiday this year.

Revive existing pieces

Outdoor furniture is designed to withstand the weather, but after some time it starts to look a little battered. If you already have outdoor furniture, spend some time giving it a little DIY fix.

Save some money by reviving your old furniture, rather than buying new stuff. A little spray paint and some new cushions could go a long way.

Opt for a bench

If you want to offer plenty of seating in your outdoor area, a bench is a much better option than single seating. You’ll fit more people on it and it takes up less space too, which is ideal if you only have a small outdoor area.

DIY Furniture

There are so many options when it comes to making your own DIY furniture, but reusing pallets is definitely one of the easiest and quickest ways to get garden seating on a budget. The great thing about the pallets is that you can design them to your own taste by painting them your favourite colour and styling them up with cushions, throws and blankets. Concrete blocks dry-stacked and covered with a foam pad are another great budget DIY seating option for your garden.

Thrift it

For this, you could always take a look in charity shops and on Facebook selling sites, or other shopping apps. You might find a real bargain, and you could even snag a freebie in some cases. It’s likely you’ll need to pick it up, but new furniture or seating set for your garden will be worth it.

Picnic bench

Both seating and dining in one, a picnic bench is a great option for a cheap and cheerful seating area in your garden. You can pick them up relatively cheaply, and make them your own by painting the wood.

Big cushions

If you want something that’s a little more casual, you could make a cosy and comfortable area in your garden by laying big cushions and blankets on the floor or grass area.

Natural seating ideas

Make do and mend. You might be able to create seats in your garden with leftover items. Use tree branches or old paving stones stacked upon each other. Enjoy your outdoor area this summer with our garden seating ideas on a budget.
