A pent roof shed has a sloping roof angled downwards towards the back of the structure.
The roof typically has a single slope, meaning it is higher at the front of the shed and lower at the back. This design allows rainwater to drain off the back of the roof and away from the shed.
Choosing a pent roof shed has countless advantages:
- Space Efficiency: The single slope of a pent roof shed means you can place it in tight spaces where other sheds may not fit.
- Versatility: Pent roof sheds can serve many purposes, including storage spaces, workshops, and even as a home office or studio.
- Easy Water Drainage: The sloping roof of a pent roof shed allows for easy drainage of rainwater, which helps prevent water damage to the shed and its contents.
Modern Appearance: The simple, sleek design of pent roof sheds gives them a minimalist appearance that may complement your home’s architecture.
- Timber: This is popular for pent roof sheds due to its natural look and durability. Atlas Sheds uses high-quality pressure-treated timber and red cedarwood that is naturally resistant to rot and decay.
Metal: Steel or aluminium can be used for the framework of a pent roof shed, providing strength and durability. The panels can be made from metal or materials such as plastic or PVC.
Yes, we offer a range of customisation options for their pent roof sheds to fit specific needs and requirements. We can build your shed according to your specifications, with our pent roof sheds equipped with removable windows.
If you require a workbench for storage or hobbies, we can install one for an additional fee. For added safety, we offer security options such as screws, anchor and cable locks, sensor alarms, and hasp staples and padlocks.
Choose the options that suit your requirements to make your pent roof shed more secure.
There is no standard size for pent roof sheds: the typical sizes of our sheds vary from small garden storage sheds to larger workshops or home offices. To better accommodate your wants and needs, our structures come in several sizes!
They can range from 4’0” to 7’0”, with different sizes in between. However, we also offer the option for customers to customise the size of their shed to fit their specific requirements.
Yes, Atlas Sheds' pent roof sheds are designed to be weather-resistant and can withstand a range of weather conditions. They are constructed using high-quality materials selected for their durability and resistance to the elements.
For example, the timber used in the construction of our sheds is pressure-treated, which helps to prevent rot and decay and makes it ideal for use in outdoor environments. Likewise, the roof is covered with high-quality roofing felt, which provides excellent protection against rain, snow, and other forms of precipitation.
We also offer optional upgrades for added weather resistance, such as Aqua Shield, which can help to keep the interior of the shed warm and dry in cold and damp conditions.
Yes, pent roof sheds can be used for a variety of purposes besides storage. Due to their simple and versatile design, pent roof sheds can be easily customised and transformed into different functional spaces, depending on your needs:
- Home Office or Studio: With the addition of insulation and electrical options, pent roof sheds can make great home offices or creative studios.
- Workshop: If you're into DIY projects, a pent roof shed can be converted into a functional workshop, complete with workbenches and storage.
Garden Room: Pent roof sheds can also be used as a garden room or relaxation space, complete with comfortable seating and decorations.
To ensure your Atlas Sheds wooden playhouse remains in top condition, proper maintenance is crucial. Here are some tips to ensure its longevity:
- Regular Cleaning: It's vital to regularly clean your pent roof shed to remove dirt, debris, and other contaminants that can harm the wood. Use warm water and a mild detergent to clean the exterior, then rinse thoroughly with a hose or bucket of water.
- Check for Damage: Regularly inspect your shed for any signs of damage, such as rot, insect infestations or cracks. If you spot damage, deal with it immediately to prevent further harm.
- Protect the Wood: Staining or sealing your playhouse can protect it from moisture, UV rays, and other environmental factors that can cause gradual damage. We recommend staining or sealing the playhouse every 1-2 years.
By following these maintenance tips, you can ensure that your pent roof shed stays in excellent condition.
Yes, there are regulations and permits that may be required when building a pent roof shed in the UK:
- Planning Permission: If your pent roof shed is larger than 2.5 metres in height or if it is situated closer than 2 metres to your property boundary, you may require planning permission from your local council.
Building Regulations: Depending on the size and intended use of the shed, it may be subject to building regulations. For example, if the floor area is greater than 15 square metres and it will be used as living space or for sleeping accommodation, it will require building regulation approval.
Atlas Sheds pent roof sheds are designed to be relatively easy to assemble and disassemble, which can make them convenient if you need to move them to a new location. However, the ease of assembly and disassembly can depend on various factors, such as the size of the shed and the level of experience of the person doing the work.
